2-Wheel Motorcycle Permit & Endorsement Testing

Puget Sound Safety can schedule your appointment for both the knowledge and skills tests to obtain your 2-wheel motorcycle permit and/or endorsement for your WA Drivers License.

** Gaining your PERMIT is a 2-Step Process (a permit knowledge test & a permit skills test).  You can schedule these in either order.

** Gaining your ENDORSEMENT is a 4-Step Process (both a permit and endorsement knowledge test & a permit and endorsement skills test).

What are the testing fees?

Advance registration online or in an office

Written test - $50

Skills test - $60

Walk-on registration

Written test - $60

Skills test - $80

What if I don't pass the tests?

• Testing again is available should you not pass the test.  Our suggestion would be to study/practice and come back to test again when you are ready. 
• For our walk-in knowledge testing you can retest at any time during normal business hours including the same day if you are ready to do so.  Normal testing fees apply.
• For our pre-scheduled appointments (knowledge & skills) find the date that works for you and schedule when you are ready.

Do I need my own motorcycle for the riding test?

No, however this test is for people who have their own motorcycle and are an experienced rider. If you do not have a motorcycle of your own yet, but are an experienced rider, you may rent a motorcycle for a fee.  Please see options for renting on the checkout page.

If you do not have your own motorcycle, or are a bit rusty on skills - we highly recommend one of our inexpensive training courses. They include tips and tricks for riding, include the use of a school motorcycle, and include the testing as well.

I've made an appointment, but where do I find out the details?

After making a testing appointment and paying the testing fee you'll be sent by email or text the time and location.  More information about what to bring, when to check in, what to expect, and some basic policies will be emailed to you prior to your appointment. • You must arrive on time for your appointment. Late arrivals may not be allowed to test.
• You must bring valid photo identification (drivers license, state identification card, or passport)
• For skills testing you must bring riding gear (DOT-approved helmet, and eye protection at a MINIMUM).

Can I reschedule my testing appointment?

Yes, you have the ability to reschedule your appointment up to 72 hours or more prior to your appointment.  Just click on your original confirmation link and make any necessary changes. Please read the Terms & Conditions for additional information.
